Gadsden State’s music groups continue an annual tradition with Christmas with the Cardinals
GADSDEN, AL – The Gadsden State Community College Show Band and A Cappella Choir is performing an annual holiday show with holiday music of all styles during Christmas with the Cardinals. The free event is 6 p.m. Dec. 10 in the former Meadows Library space in Inzer Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus.
“The choral groups will provide holiday music of cheer and entertainment at this year’s Christmas with the Cardinals,” said J.T. Harrell, director of the choir. “As director, this is my favorite time of the year. People are always eager to hear Christmas music and celebrate the season of giving.”
The A Cappella Choir will perform a collection of classic Christmas carols including “White Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Sleigh Bells,” “Ukrainian Bell Carol” and other Christmas favorites.
Desmond Mitchell, the director of the show band, said he worked with the students when choosing song selections for the upcoming Christmas with the Cardinals.
“We invite the entire community to enjoy Christmas with the Cardinals in our new performance space. Get ready for a performance from the GSCC Show Band, filled with classics and contemporary songs,” he said. “The collection will be a variety of Pop, R&B, Soul and Country forms of Christmas music performed by the Show Band is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit and a show you won't soon forget.”
In addition to the annual performance, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be attending from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 10 for photo opportunities and Christmas wishes. The Division of Fine Arts students decorated the space into a cozy holiday home for people of all ages to enjoy.
“Christmas with the Cardinals is free to the public. We would like our community to come and experience holiday cheer with the Gadsden State Cardinal family,” said Mario Gallardo, chair for the Division of Fine Arts.
Gallardo said, “The Clauses’ plan to bring their sleigh for the children to enjoy. This event will make it the most wonderful time of the year.”
